spicyinvalid The first track "Nirvana for Mice" is such a glorious personal anthem for me. Henry Cow is one of the first bands I discovered without being introduced to me by my father (a severe music enthusiast). Overtime, Leg End has appreciated it returns and still stands as a treasured all-time-favorite among many, many other fine albums that I can not list. And, I have to say that this record is by far the best from their catalog IMHO. So freaky and beautiful. Favorite track: Amygdala.

Robert Wales I have to disagree with Sven I don't think this is crap. the production value is better than western culture so it's feels compositionally compromised, but it's still a wonder to enjoy.

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) Henry Cow's debut album "Leg End" aka "Legend" contains a lot of crap. However, the pair of groundbreaking Tim Hodgkinson compositions, "Amygdala" and "Nine Funerals of the Citizen King", plus Fred Frith's "Extract from 'With the Yellow Half-Moon and Blue Star'" justify the purchase. Here it already becomes obvious that Tim Hodgkinson was the band's most prolific composer, besides Lindsay Cooper, who entered the band somewhat later. Favorite track: Amygdala.

about

Henry Cow Cambridge, UK

The band who invented a new genre, changed music forever & carved out a permanent place in rock history. They were among the first bands signed to Richard Branson's Virgin label in 1973, on the recommendation of Soft Machine's Robert Wyatt, who described them as "my favourite band in the world". Their blend of free jazz and experimental rock make them one of the greatest British bands of all time ... more
